Boavista is home to rotunda da Boavista, also known as the Praça de Mouzinho de Albuquerque, honoring Joaquim Augusto Mouzinho de Albuquerque, a Portuguese soldier who fought in Africa, during the 19th century. The center has a large column that in turns celebrates the victory against french troops during the peninsular wars. Now a days it is a well to do district of Porto closest to the Ocean and Foz neighborhood, with mansions from the 40s/50s and a wide choice of shops and restaurants. One particular venue is widely liked- Mercado do Bom Sucesso has been turned in a foodie haven, with quite a few chef stands with delectable cuisine.
